Retired USAF, 25 years, 1970 to 1995. Job, Air Combat Controller, one of those guys who man door guns on Huey helicopters, repels from choppels for downed pilot rescue, pick up wounded. Illuminate targets for air strikes and, in Vietnam this was done with compass and map,sitting nearly on top of your target....the old fashioned way.

Served in Vietnam, Grenada, Desert Storm and Somalia. Lost left leg to granade.
